Methodology

A sample with its context.

TickerBloom helps you explore recent reporting, find the companies it mentions, and inspect its sources.

What you are looking at

The server retrieves up to three pages of 20 permitted AlphAI articles, ordered by source publication time, and combines that sample with a recent ingest page. While the desk is open, the server checks new ingested reporting at a five-second interval, plus request time and any rate-limit backoff, and sends it through a WebSocket connection. The live connection retains a bounded recent sample. The chosen publication window adds permitted historical reporting. It is not a complete market universe or archive. A changing list can contain gaps. Missing names, sectors, summaries, and times stay unavailable.

Your publication window

Choose 1 hour, 12 hours, 24 hours, 1 week or 1 month. The default is 24 hours; a month means the last 30 days. These rolling windows use source publication time, independently of when an article reaches the live connection. History is sampled across the chosen window and joins live reporting without duplicate article IDs. Window sample means more reporting exists than was retrieved; counts describe loaded articles.

Historical reads are shared and rechecked automatically. Live cards continue to arrive through the WebSocket while history is loading. Articles without publication time remain accessible in a separate feed section and are excluded from dated company counts. A historical article loading or appearing again is not a fresh arrival.

How counts work

Each distinct article counts once in the global sample. An article mentioning several companies counts once for each company, so company counts do not add up to the global total. Larger company bubbles mean more distinct dated articles loaded in your chosen window. All companies appear by default in a scrollable cloud; optional 12, 24, 36 and 48 views show leaders. New coverage highlights companies from recent arrivals. Each bubble keeps a minimum usable size, so the smallest bubbles are not an exact area chart. Sector colors come from supplied company metadata; missing sectors appear in Unclassified. Articles without company tags remain in Macro & market-wide.

Bubble size and color describe coverage and sectors, not market performance, sentiment or a Radar metric. The cloud and feed update automatically together. Selected reading content stays in place.

Recent reporting and genuine arrivals

The Recent reporting lane continuously repeats loaded headlines. Its movement is a way to explore existing coverage, not a claim that each passing headline has just arrived. Pause stops the lane; Motion Off and system reduced motion suppress animation throughout the desk.

Automatic updates and steady reading

Article timestamps distinguish three moments. Published is the source's publication date. AlphAI collected is when AlphAI saved the original reporting, before enrichment. API received is when this desk first accepted a new article from a live API check. Relative ages update while the screen is visible; hover for the exact UTC timestamp.

The API does not supply the exact time an article became available. Initial and historical samples therefore show collection age when supplied, with API arrival time unavailable in the reader. Reloads and reconnects retain recorded receipt times within the same server session; a server restart does not label older articles as new receipts.

The separate Incoming shelf keeps up to six recent articles newly received by this desk. Its receipt time is separate from publication time. Newly received articles can have older source times. Initial loading, duplicates and recovered updates do not play arrival animations. News inserts automatically, including while you read, scroll or search. The article at your reading position stays in place. Source-check bars record completed checks; an empty check is not a new article. They do not report upstream parser progress.

Updates run automatically; there is no Refresh button. Checks have a configured minimum interval, a request budget, and rate-limit backoff. “Checked” is the actual server check time; publication times belong to the source. A cached response keeps its check time. Connected browsers share one collector; its source checks stop when the last browser disconnects.

The feed needs no manual acceptance. A changed version of the selected reading content waits for Load update. Missing articles in a bounded result are not treated as deleted. Explicit access withdrawal clears affected content. Unrevalidated snapshots and reading content expire after the configured display period, at most 15 minutes in local review.

A news screen

Screen mode uses more of a large display and arranges the feed into multiple columns when space permits. Portrait and phone screens keep a readable single feed. On small screens, Screen mode tucks filters behind Filters; Customize stays available. Fullscreen is optional and controlled by the viewer. Appearance, period, cloud size and display settings stay on this browser. Motion Off and system reduced motion remain available.

Reporting and Story context

The article remains the reading fallback. When AlphAI resolves a Story, its supported summary state and a bounded materials page provide context. Retrieved materials and a supplied Story total are labeled separately. Multiple articles or publishers do not prove independent confirmation. Summaries are supplied by AlphAI; TickerBloom does not generate an additional explanation or fact timeline. Source article bodies are not reproduced.

The optional Stories view groups only resolved Story identities and aliases. Unresolved articles stay separate. Its article count describes this filtered view, independently of a Story's total materials. Expired or withdrawn context stops qualifying for grouping.

Your reading references

Unread means articles in the loaded sample that you have not opened on this browser. Bookmarks save article identifiers, and Views saves your chosen filters and followed companies. Reporting text is not saved in browser storage. Saved articles outside the current sample are checked for access before display; unavailable references can be removed. Opening a bookmark or changing a view does not create an arrival or change the cloud's publication-window counts.

Limits of this MVP

AlphAI supplies REST data; the connection from this app's server to your browser is a WebSocket. The source is checked periodically rather than pushing news directly. Corrections or removals outside fetched details can remain undiscovered. Recovery covers a short in-memory window; older gaps and server restarts load a quiet new baseline. There is no durable or lossless delivery guarantee. The local cache, collector and budget belong to one Node process. TickerBloom is publicly hosted with a shared request budget and a bounded number of live connections.
